It appears as if your walking through and enjoying a gorgeous water garden hidden in the midst of a magical land. The bright green floating plants and the cute wildlife of ducks, butterflies and birds creates a pristine environment. Great for cleaning the surrounding air quality and relaxing after or during a hard days work.
Usually the water canals in the city are smelly and full of tossed away trash bags, papers or old food from the local litter bugs. This canal located outside of a hospital in busy Richland Washington. I live outside of town about a hundred miles, so I'm used to the fresh air. When I go into town I always smell the pollution of car exhaust from the city. Because I'm not around the smell all the time I haven't gone nose blind to the city orders that most people have grown used to.
I drove my sister-in-law to a doctor's appointment across the street from the hospital. There was a very long wait, the doctor was running 45 minutes behind that day. So we walked across the street letting my niece hunt down Pokemon and get a bit of exercise.
It was hot out so I was a bit apprehensive at first. I decided to walk with them anyway and didn't expect to walk into a cool, green water garden. There are a couple of small bridges where you can walk over the canal if you wish. There are a couple of benches where you can go to sit and enjoy the fresh air and scenery. I couldn't believe it! Just a hundred feet away it scorching hot and hard to breath. Now with the plants and a few trees dotting the edges of the canal it was much cooler and the plants cleaned the surrounding air, making it much easier to breath.
I thought, "wow this is great idea. Why don't more city's use their canals to create a water garden and help the communities they live in." It doesn't require a lot of upkeep and has many benefits that come with it. I just wanted to write about this great use of their canal and how people can still use their resources wisely and benefits many.
Call out to all cities big and small, use your canals for something wonderful and get rid of the filthy stagnant canals of old! Have a blessed day.
Thank you!
